At Coca-Cola, I lead teams with 100’s of people. While I loved it, I didn’t want to create a business that was serviced based powered by people.
The highest I got to was 30 in my outsourcing and development businesses.
I scaled back when I sold both and now have a small team with a series of experts who help me. 
My team has been essential in helping me to run my community and mentoring business whilst going through my transplant. I couldn’t have done it without them. 
A big thank you to them. 
Many people ask me how I manage to do all of this on my own and I let them into the secret of being successful. 
You don’t have a business unless you have a team. 
I will go through my team and the topline responsibilities they have. It is not a perfect structure for everyone, but it works for me and I hope it inspires you to create your version. 
Coni is my Business Manager. She is my right-hand person and essential to my success.

When to hire?
This is one of the hardest decisions you will make as a business owner. As a rule, I find people wait too long. 
We tend to not value our time and pay ourselves a commercial wage, so the comment it is cheaper and quicker to do it myself get said. 
Coming from Coca-Cola we were taught to hirer before you needed to. We had the profit to do it, but it paid off more than not. 
As an owner, you have a few options to fund the new hirer.

  1. Working capital. 
  2. Bank financing 
  3. Personal funds 
  4. Sale of a business asset

I use a combination of working capital eg 3 months operating cash flow in the bank and sale of a business asset. My last sale is funding my personal branding.
