The LinkedIn messaging platform is not the most friendly tool to do some outreach. However, for most sales partners and consultants, this is the platform they get most of their leads.

Messages on LinkedIn 

The LinkedIn message platform is basic at its base. It’s not great, but you’ve got to deal with what you’ve got to deal with. So when you make a connection, move people from LinkedIn to email as quickly as possible. But in order to do that, sometimes you need to reply on LinkedIn in the first place.

No matter how many messages you receive on LinkedIn, they all have one common element: they all are text-based. Now, how many times do you send messages out and you don’t get a response? I have a tip that can help you fix that. Did you know there is another way you can message on LinkedIn? The platform has a native option: voice messages.

 

Barriers to reply

One of the key barriers of reply: People think they are being spammed by a third party or someone acting on behalf of you. They actually don’t know who you are. Therefore it’s very easy to ignore a text message. But using voice is a great circuit breaker and will help to increase response rates.

 

How to make it scalable

Nobody has the time to leave a voice message to every person who sends a message on LinkedIn, so we have come up with a scalable solution: You can get someone to do it for you. Here are a few examples. You need to record 10 voice messages and then get your virtual assistant to play them from their computer into their phone when they’re using your account. Since it is a native function, you need to press while you are talking to actually send a message.

Please be aware that giving access to your LinkedIn account to a third person is a breach of the LinkedIn terms and conditions, so​ please consider this if you decide to do it. However, the upside outweighs the risk. And to be honest, most consultants have a virtual assistant in their account, so they can focus on the sales calls instead of the admin work.

“Thank you for accepting my connection request. I’ll send a brief email to introduce myself, as LinkedIn messenger can be tricky.” Add at the end of that message, “No sales messages, I promise.”
