How to Define Your Niche

- Make sure you have good graphics
- All copy written in the third person to make it sound like you have a team
- A well-written bio page
- A contact page
- A Media Page – a page which has links to all the articles & podcasts you’ve been on with logos from those sites
- A Speaker One Sheet – this is usually a PDF that has your name, bio, social media and talking points

In the beginning, it might be challenging to get on other people’s podcasts because you are still perfecting your well-written pitch, you have little time for research and outreach, and you are still building up your credibility. Here are some tips to get you through that and into the shows that are right for your industry.

- Hiring a firm that has worked with people in the space, and have the contacts and connections
- Networking with people at events

It is best not to focus on too many things, but focus on one thing that you can have people walk away with. You have to hook people emotionally so they will be interested to learn more from you.
Have an irresistible CALL TO ACTION
A call to action is an invitation leading listeners into something that actually helps them apply what you just taught or talked about. This will lead people to join your list so you can have an option to invite them later on to have the opportunity to work with you.
But you need to handle your call to action in a way that will not give people resistance to want to work with you and connect with you.

- Listen to an episode of the show that you’re going to be on to show levity and respect of knowing a little bit about them and knowing how their show flow works
- If you haven’t been on an interview before, do a mock interview with somebody to get comfortable in an interview

- If the host has an idea of where they want the interview to go, don’t resist them
- Do not be too salesy. Listeners want engagement, education, and learning

How to get on Your First Podcast Interview
Step 1. Look for shows that have less than 50 episodes and less than 20 reviews. In iTunes, go all the way down to the bottom, and you can actually click on a flag and it lets you change the country. You can go into main categories or you can niche down even smaller.
Step 2. Track it in a spreadsheet
Step 3. Write your pitch. Only talk about story and message. Focus on how you can help the audience and what your story and your message is. Keep it short, concise, and to the point.
Step 4. Make sure it has a great subject line, because you need to get people to open your email.
