My favorite – and the one that helped to transform my business and how I work personally – is Toggl.

How do I use Toggl?

Using Toggl has made a massive difference to my productivity. I never had the time available to do the things that I needed to do, and I could never figure out why. 

Toggl has helped me to run my business more efficiently from anywhere. It was a hugely important tool for me when I was hospitalized for around three years, and needed to manage my business from my hospital bed.

Now, thanks in large part to Toggl, I work in 30-minute sprints, with a short break between each. I’ve found that’s the most effective way for me to use my time.

You can use Toggl as a Chrome extension, on your cell phone, or as a downloaded app. It integrates beautifully with my iPhone (and yes, I can run my entire business from my iPhone).

All I do is enter the task I’m working on when I start it. When I finish, I press stop. It’s as easy as that.

A word of warning here: it will blow your mind when you see how long certain tasks take you. You’ll quickly understand why you never have the time you need or expected.

It also helps me to manage projects more efficiently. I can easily see if a task fits into and adds to the quality of the project.

You can also tag the tasks you do, separating them into different categories. So, for sales tasks, this might include cold calling, admin tasks, composing proposals, and making sales presentations. 

Effortlessly, I can see how much time I am spending over a day, week, month, quarter, and year on selling. If I’m short of my 30% target, I know I need to adjust upwards. 

This also helps me to monitor how much time I am spending on each client, and measure the profitability of each of my clients.

I review all this information daily, and this helps me to focus on which tasks I need to prioritize to hit my targets. It helps me to work smarter instead of harder, and it’s given me a chunk of my time back.

Perhaps best of all, it’s allowed me to be more intentional with my time by time-blocking for the tasks I need to complete – because I now know how much time every task takes me.
